Looking at the above diagram, Baduy Village has much in common features compare to Bali’s. Both tourist destinations are in Indonesia and separated by 2 hours flight only from Ngurah Rai International Airport of Bali and Cengkareng International Airport of Banten. Bali has reached such a high international exposure of among the favorite tourist destinations in the world, while Baduy’s not yet known nor promoted.
Research conducted by National Geographic showed that most travelers have their objective of trip to experience different culture. In other world, they intend to meet people. This fact leads to our assumption that Cultural Tourism is itself a marketable business. So to speak, Baduy Village’s a virgin lands waiting to be touched by tourist industries and it has a prospective future.
It needs further feasibility studies on the issue. Managing Tourism is a very complex social activities which cannot be attained by simplicity or by just a simple set of rule and normative processes. When it properly done and the project put into actions, Baduy Village will grow as a new challenge to Bali.
Will People of Kanekes accept the development of their territory? Will the local government arise a specific policy toward Human Development of Baduy People in the near future? We’ll wait to see.
